As part of its services, Watchintime.com, provides Valuation(s) for precious articles, would they be jewellery or watches. When we purchase a valuable item from a jeweller, we need to insure it and to do so the till receipt is usually sufficient. Occasionally a post-sale valuation is necessary. We can help in these instances or when the receipt has gone missing and/or the item has increased in value.
An Insurance Valuation is the most typical type of valuation sought and is compiled on the basis of what a broadly similar article will cost to replace in the unfortunate event of loss or damage. A Private Sale Valuation applies where one wishes to privately sell an article of value and needs to know what a reasonable price would be. A Probate Valuation may be required upon the death of the owner of jewellery and other valuables, this is needed in order to wind up an estate; possible liability for death duties may ensue.
A valuation is an opinion based upon many years of experience allied to formal training in gemmology and other specialist areas of product knowledge. We have our specialists and with the use of modern technology and machinery results are more accurate than they have been in the past.
We work by postal service only and turnaround cycle is never less than 8 working days. The item(s) must be sent to us via Special Delivery services, fully insured by you. Inside your envelope you must provide:
- a full list of item(s) enclosed
- a SAE (Special Delivery – fully insured and fully paid for envelope) for the safe return of the item(s).
(Please note: All parcels are opened while fully recording the procedure by video camera. Address provided by you is where the item(s) will be returned to. Watchintime.com cannot take any responsibilities for any losses).
The cost of the service is based on the value of the item. Watchintime.com charges 4.5% Fees on items from £250 up to £11,999. On items above the sum of £12,000, please contact us first via email.
This means that an item worth £250 will cost you £13.50 to value. Before we will return the item to you with your valuation certificate, you will be requested to pay for the valuation in full. Bank transfer or credit card payments will be preferable.
